Salary:

Project Accountant

Provide financial management services, including cash flow management, financial reporting, controller services, and book closure to ensure client satisfaction, all under the guidance of a Chief Operating Officer. The Project Accountant will complete Controller/CFO level projects for various clients as needs arise. This is a part time role with potential for day travel to clients in the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Lansing areas. 

  • Review reconciliation of accounting records
  • Resolve accounting errors, implement corrective measures to reconcile
  • Develop and document accounting procedures by analyzing current business processes, recommend changes for efficiencies, continued improvement and appropriate segregation of duties
  • Evaluate, recommend (including cost/benefit analysis) and implement accounting software solutions
  • Integrate existing software packages
  • Prepare and review financial statements and other management reports to ensure accuracy
  • Interprets, reports on, makes recommendations based on financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules for the tax return

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
  • Strong technical and inter-personal leadership
  • Highly proficient with accounting software, implementation, troubleshooting
  • Understanding of, ability to adhere to, and ability to hold others responsible to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational skills, high degree of accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional project and time management skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, projects, and clients
  • Able to work independently
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced computer skills and software savvy
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills

Education and/or Experience

  • BA in accounting, business administration, business management, or other related field
  • 10+ years accounting experience
  • 2+ years supervisory or project lead experience

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • MBA or master’s in accounting, or other related field
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • 2+ years client management experience
  • 1+ years sales experience

Reading, Math, and Reasoning Skills

Strong written and oral communications, interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, service focus and time management skills required. Must be able to work independently and as part of a larger team.
