JOB DESCRIPTION:

• This transitional position requires the individual to perform advanced 2D drafting work while learning entry level design concepts and techniques simultaneously.
• Develops transmission line plan and profile drawings, transmission/distribution line hardware details, material lists and grounding details.
• Creates master drawings to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.
• Confers with engineering team in interpreting input from a variety of sources such as engineering specifications, weight and volume calculations and stress factors.
• Gathers and maintains specified records of engineering data, references information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.
• Learns to perform basic designs for and produces drawings following industry standards and guidelines under the direction of more experienced personnel.
• Learns to understand certain fundamental engineering concepts which are required to perform electrical design tasks.
• Learns to reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc. and apply the information to design drawings.
• Completes self-checks before forwarding to a reviewer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 3 years of qualified experience in drafting, with at least 2 years being in the electrical transmission industry.
• Ideal candidate is very knowledgeable in AutoCAD and has the ability to take marked drawings and produce complete and accurate CAD drawings, following CAD standards specific to the project/client.
• Must be able to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures and applicable codes and/or standards and have the ability to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities is important.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills in English are important as well.
• Must demonstrate commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
